Go to the settings application, scrol down to product info and tap it. If you have a Version string of 20.2010.26-2 you are on the latest from Nokia. They stopped providing fixes and upgrades, so some developers from the community step in and raised the N900 to a new level with the CSSU (version string 21.2011.38-1 or similiar)

    Hi there

    thanks for the reply.

    My version is 21.2011.38-1

Do u know if that wld be freemantle 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3?

Also have i got a good version was wondering if its worth even updating the firmware at some point?

    Thanks.

This actually is handled automatically by the 'fremantle' distribution name. Your repository all point to this distribution, which might be handled by HildonApplicationManager, FasterApplicationManager or pure apt-get, which are the recommended ways to install applications.

But you have to be careful about manually downloaded package to be installed by dpkg. Dpkg is the low-level installer, which does what it is been told to do without much checking for dependencies or breakage.

    This is actually PR1.3.1
This is the latest Nokia release, therefore you cannot update the firmware via a flasher any higher.
Any updates after this are Community updates, the installer is downloaded from here.
You must have version 20.2010.36(PR1.3) or 21.2011.38(PR1.3.1) to update to the Community SSU

    Hey,
sorry for reviving. But it matches here.
I want to find the installed Maemo version (it is 21.2011-38), but my settings/productinfo reveils only
    Nokia N900
    unknown
    Version: unknown
WLAN, BT and IMEI are shown correct.

Does anyone know where those are stored?
I checked with lshal and gconf to no avail.

P.S.: not that I need that, but I have other strange issues...

Smells like a similar issue as http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=697 So check what "osso-product-info" gives you.
