I also got irritated by the high volume.
What i did was use an mp3 file (my case ambient) and lowered the overall volume with an audio editor.
Cut the track to a few (5-10) seconds and edit it so it loops seemlessly and use that as my alarm tone.

Get headache when the phone rings, on my android I have on lowest and that is good volume
