I reckon I'll take a risk and install the latest on top of this and hope for the best.

try removing everything..your account, your db file and uninstall wazapp..
install the latest version again and it will ask you to register, do it and i hope its done.

Download BlueStacks from www.bluestacks.com, install whatsapp there, send a verification code using your phone number and use the code received on your wazapp application on your phone.
This will work for sure
Regards.
and the Windows version doesn't work with wine. Is there a similar application as BlueStacks that runs on Linux (either natively or with wine)?

. Though I don't anymore need BlueStacks at the moment, it would be great to know if such a program existed in case I run into problems in the future.

I managed to get wazapp working with a previous registeration code I found from my messages. Though I don't anymore need BlueStacks at the moment, it would be great to know if such a program existed in case I run into problems in the future.
