I am able to receive, but not send, email on my new Nokia n810. I am using my own home wireless network, and have the following settings, similar to my Outlook Express settings:

Incoming (pop3): incoming.verizon.net
Outgoing (smpt): outgoing.verizon.net

The box is checked to indicate "use connection-specific SMTP servers" and the SMTP server is configured as follows:

Server name: outgoing.verizon.net (is this right??)
SMTP authentication: Login
Username & Password: same as my email account
Security: none
Outgoing email port: 25

When I try to send I get the following error message: Unable to connect to SMTP server....check your network has access to server.

Any advice or suggestions?

Thanks so much,
Jane

I think that you do not have the Server name right.
There are no Servers by the name ' outgoing ' and ' incoming '.

I think it should be:

Incoming (pop3) : mail.verizon.net

Outgoing (smtp) : smtp.verizon.net

So I think it should be:

Server name: smtp.verizon.net

SMTP authentication: Login

Username & Password: same as your email account

Security: none

Outgoing email port: 25

Please try this and hopefully it should work for you.

Thank you. I've tried your suggestion, but no luck. I believe that incoming & outgoing are correct as you can see from verizon.net's suport page:

http://netservices.verizon.net/porta...em&objId=22799

Also, I AM receiving email, just unable to send.

Any more suggestions?

Thanks again,
Jane

incoming POP3: incoming.verizon.net
outgoing SMTP: outgoing.verizon.net

account username and password are the ones Verizon assigned to you- but you may have changed them, as I did.
On the 810 E-mail account setup page3/4, uncheck "Use connection-specific SMTP servers".

Nope. The username & password are the same i used to set up the account. Plus, if they were wrong, I don't think I'd be able to receive email.

Thanks everyone!
Any more thoughts?

on the 810 E-mail account page 3/4:
"Use connection-specific SMTP servers" uncheck that box.

on the 810 E-mail account setup page 4/4 click "Advanced"

Click "Outgoing" tab.
SMTP authentication -LOGIN
username and password are your Verizon ones.

Security NONE

Outgoing e-mail port 587 or 25
