It's more about the fact why one participates in an election or a competition. You don't participate with the intent not to win. You participate because you want to win something.

Ok, there is no problem if someone vote for itself....maybe someone can see it unfair, but it is allowed, so it is ok.
Maybe for the next year, we will found some trick to avoid someone to vote in a category.
Anyway, I rely on the honesty of the developer, we are not politicians so we should have a little of honesty
