720p is great on 32'' and 37'' tvs... and it ain't enough for smartphones? come ..on!!
Ok, so you don't want development to go on? This is a small step in evolution. Wait a year or two and see if you says the same thing. You know that there are more stuff to a phone expect the screen ?
Personally I can't wait to get a 1080p screen after CES.

Wrist watch*) TVs were also an evolutionary dead end. There is a certain physiological limit and there is little point for technology to try to push it. Other than for marketing purposes that is.
