Thanks so much for posting that here. I've heard several references to this mailing list, is it something that *anyone* can sign up for, or is there a registration procedure or something?

Also, any chance to respond directly to Quim and suggest he post it on Maemo.org's news section or something?

All,

I spoke with Nokia's PR person again this afternoon, who spoke to a few people in Finland earlier in the day.

Nokia is aware of the growing anger in the development community, and has committed to releasing a status update within the next week.

I asked who was ultimately responsible for this gigantic failure to communicate with the community, and was told that the company is not looking to find a scapegoat.

I did some testing (US) with a Nokia friend today and almost got everything working (the code gave me $145 off the total rather than a total of $145). But, the testing ended in better than "no balance" results and this from my friend:

No discount for me but no tablet yet in spite having bought it web way on the 12/28/07. It seems there's some heavy problem going with UPS.
No way to know what is going on but UPS is not saying Nokia to free new sendings. So the end client is oblige to wait. This can be very good for other UPS clients like Apple. Let's hope Nokia lawyers are tuff ... and us, patient with Nokia that is trying it's best to solve the mess UPS is doing.

To whoever doesn't follow maemo-developers mailing list, here's a quote from the last Quim Gil's mail on the topic at 2:33pm CET 15/1/2008:

The fix should be simple but I still haven't got a date due to the
different timezones. Contributors having selected the US shop will
receive an update and instruction as soon as the service is available.

Canada should be ready to handle the maemo program requests by the end
of this week.
EDIT: added time
