Yes, 13Gb is right.

But that JamMo is not from extras-testing, but from extras-devel.

JamMo for 3-6 years children needs some 350M.

JamMo for 7-12 years children downloads 2G OGG-packed files and then uncompress them, using 13Gb disk space. We know it is hazard and thus it is not in extras-testing. Game can play six audio files simultaneously, and if they are compressed -> N900 do not have enough processing power.

After uninstalling, check folder: /home/user/MyDocs/jammo_data/
(There are postrm-hook, but maybe never tested)

And then there are folder /home/user/MyDocs/jammo/
which behaves like ~/.jammo so there are user savings, singings, 'passwords', log-files... This is not automatically removed! (It can be quite big because singings are stored as wavs)

When you install jammo7-12 it starts another process and downloads (huge) audio data from http://www.umsic.org/jammo/data/jammo7-12_all/
If server is down installing will end with failure. (If server is up but very laggy, anything can happens). 'Update' on application manager will try downloading again.

Package is marked 'Broken', so you can use same methods than with debian/ubuntu. Search for: "removing broken packages"
i.e.
Code:
sudo gainroot
apt-get remove jammo7-12-data jammo7-12-en
apt-get install -f
If it still tries to install it, use
Code:
dpkg --purge jammo7-12-data jammo7-12-en
apt-get install -f

And finally check /home/user/MyDocs/jammo_data/ is deleted (it is on postrm-script, but not sure will it work on case of not-finalized installation)

This looks pretty sweet! My kids don't speak any of the three languages mentioned so would this usable without knowing the language? Don't feel like clearing up 13Gigs to try
Also, are there more languages planned?

I have tested (during development) game without speak with kids and they have good time with it. But
a) I knew pretty well how to play, and I helped them to start
b) Speak might be annoying if you do not understand it. (This is not issue if you set locale)

Currently we have resources to record only English+German+Finnish. But we will make clear (non-technical) instructions how anyone can record speak (and they can then added to game).

And keep in mind: I started this thread for jammo-0.5.X in extras which is for children aged 3-6. This 13G is about jammo-0.7.X in extras-devel which additionally contains game for 7-12, which do not have speak at all (they are coming ~Feb2011).

Package gstreamer0.10-plugins-good-extra is in Nokia's repository: http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...-0maemo18+0m5/

This might be the reason:
Code:
W: GPG error: https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com ./ Release: The following signatures were invalid: KEYEXPIRED 1349249546 KEYEXPIRED 1349249546 KEYEXPIRED 1349249546
I don't yet know what is the solution.

While nowadays it's not a problem to dedicate a 32GB SD card just for JamMo, I wonder, if processing power is really a blocker here? I just tried playing 7 OGG (Q=6) files via some terminal trickery, and N900@900 mhz hardly uses 70-80% of CPU power.

I don't know how much JamMo interface adds to it - if it's similar (technically) to gCompris, it should be negligible. Maybe something else is hogging CPU, and by finding it, we could get rid of "space dilemma" by reverting to use OGG's again?

Also, maybe JamMo default OGG's are compressed using heavier settings? I'm not sure if changing Q affects quality only, maybe processing power too (like with FLAC's compression level)?

Currently situation of JamMo is bad. Data-pack is too big to handle with debian-package. We had smart way where deb-packages contains only download-links and files were fetched during installation. But our servers are now expired and there aren't place for data files any more.
