I just updated to the latest version from Graham Cobbs repository and it seems that the Category problem has been fixed. I have not had a chance to look at other functionality, but this is a good step forward.

Thanks to all involved in the GPE software and porting to the tablet!

If you already have the repository then go into Application Manager and then Check for updates.

If you do not have the repository, then you will need to add it, either by going to the gronmayer site or by adding the following in a new Catalog

Catalog name - Grahams (cobb.uk.net) repository
Web address - http://www.cobb.uk.net/apt/
Distribution - chinook
Components - user

Thanks Mike, I'm so confused with the GPE stuff, I kind of installed some of their programs, but in my application manager there are tons of things called "libgpe" followed by some other stuff and underneath that they all say "gpe packaged with mud" I have no idea what I should install or leave uninstalled. Any idea what repository I can remove to make all these go away and start fresh with the repository you listed here?

Well I installed everything that said GPE on it except for things that said "dev" somewhere. Hopefully it works.

Yay, categories seem to be working. Any idea where I can leave feedback for GPE?

anything that says libxxx is just a library that usually gets installed with the actual applications. And yes, as you install more software, it can get a bit overwhelming. I am no expert, barely past beginner myself.

I had to update about 6-8 items in the Software Update, but I did not install the file manager or timesheet. You can always go into the Installed Applications and remove a few of the GPE ones.

I am also lucky that my data is on my SD card, so I got into a similar situation to you, and just re-installed OS2008.

Not much help I know, and as for repositories, I think it is somewhat an issue at the moment. I have seen other threads talking about why there are so many, it is confusing. I believe the Nokia and the maemo extras are the default repositories that come with a fresh OS2008. You could remove all others, and then add the one in my above post. There may be a better expert or guru that can give better advice though.

The main site for the GPE programs is http://bugs.linuxtogo.org/
and the current person porting to the tablets is http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/

Yes, the todo list works fine with the GPE summary! You just have to enable it in the settings. I can also confirm that the category bug is fixed!

timesheet seems to be working (at least it starts) as well.
