I am new to the N800. I have done some research and found that GPE has a lot of applications that i want to install.
The problem is that on the website, there are several different downloads for familiar Linux, debian and openzaurus. I have no idea what my N800 is using. I know that i updated the OS to OS2008.
Can someone please just outline the detailed steps i need to get GPE calendar, contacts and to-do?
1) go (with your N800 browser) to the following web-page: http://gronmayer.com/it/index.php?lang=en&system=maemo4, scroll down until you see a repository called "Grahams (cobb.uk.net) repository", and then click on the big green arrow.
2) accept the installation of the .install file
3) go to the application manager and perform a search for "gpe"
4) click on the packages you want to install
5) normally you should have the selected applications visible in the "Extra" category.
@ lorelei,
i followed your instructions to the letter. I was able to successfully install GPE contacts and to-do, but when i try to install calendar, i got the message stating:
"Unable to install gpe-calendar. Some application packages required for the installation are missing"
the problem tab states:
"Unable to install gpe-calendar
Application packages missing: libsoup2.2-8(>=2.2.98)
Woops, yes, forgot about that one!
You can go again to http://gronmayer.com/it/index.php?lang=en&system=maemo4
look for a repository called "Maemo hackers" (there are two of them on that page, select the second one, which mentions "chinook" instead of "mistral"), and click on the green arrow (all of this from your N800).
After that, you can try to reinstall gpe-calendar: it will solve automatically the dependency and will install libsoup for you!
