I have a new n9 with the ‘country variant sweden’ (059L7N6) firmware. Because i live in the UK I tried to flash it with the UK IRELAND firmware but cant because its seen as a downgrade. Only learnt this recently

My question are

1 - Is there any disadvantage with using ‘country variant sweden’ (059L7N6) firmware as a UK user?
2 - Is this a carrier branded variant?

Swedish N9's provide you with:

blonde hair
a funny accent
free ABBA downloads from the Nokia Music Store
VIP pass to your local sauna
an innate ability to assemble flat pack furniture

1 - No.<br />
2 - You can check - tell me the string under &quot;Version&quot; in Settings -> About Product

Just use central european one, bcz sweden is xx001 wariant i guess, but first check the thema in this forum about comprehensive fllashing your n9 device...so don't go for higher number wariant...otherwise you might stuck like me with xx009!

Do the check that Hurrian suggested, but a 059L7N9 should have *operator* variant 339, which means that if it has already PR1.3 you cannot do any reflash to the 'vanilla' version.

Its PR1.3 (40.2012.21-3.339.2_PR_339)

So its branded. What does this mean for me... are there any restrictions?

you are using the latest FW release so if you ever need to flash just flash the same product code...

You are not missing out on anything...

nokia has base firmwares with pr legacy 001

These firmwares are then modified to include support for MEA region and given legacy code 005

China is IIRC pr legacy 006

Hereon the firmwares are given to telcos to add their modifications...Regardless of any mods added the legacy codes are bumped up to 2XX-3XX

You are using a firmware that is pr legacy 339...It allows you to do whatever you can do in 001 firmware except it may have some additions from the Telco...

I dont think there would be any functional differences, but changing the variant might affect the warranty
