I haven't really seen a need for it yet. My N900s already have pretty much everything I want, just with PR1.3. I'm not into portrait mode; really, the only time I hold the thing vertically is when I've got it up against my ear. I don't know exactly what all bugs are currently fixed by CSSU, but the programs I run haven't been crashing or acting up. I get decent uptimes, and battery life is fine.
In short, I don't really see a burning need to update my system right now.

Since the release of the stable branch CSSU-S is meant to be the LongTermSupport hotspot for all N900 users/owners.

(And the part that affects me the most -- my Pierogi app uses the landscape lock, but of course that is ineffective in CSSU...)First and foremost CSSU is about bugfixes that should but don't get published as genuine Nokia maemo update (http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU#What_is_it.3F) and it's meant for all users, not only for portrait-mode-lovers (http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU#Whom_is_it_for.3F

And yet, it's the part of CSSU that has gotten the most publicity.(And the part that affects me the most -- my Pierogi app uses the landscape lock, but of course that is ineffective in CSSU...)

Landscape lock is not ineffective by default. Forced rotation must be enabled in transitions.ini. I agree that it's potentially annoying for application developers, who may receive complaints about UI layouts not functioning correctly in portrait mode (where the user has enabled forced rotation), when the application is only intended to be used in landscape.
