    If you have connection problem, try uninstall and reinstall yappari back..after reinstall, dont forget to reboot. then it should be ok, that works for me

    That won't make any effect. Although people should always reboot after installing the first version of Yappari ever in their phones (you don't need to reboot in the upgrades).

    @Scorpius:

    I am aware that not only this is alpha, but it is also free. I am thankful for the work done, and the following is in no way a request, but more like a suggestion, that might help me and the others:

    Would it be possible to implement the behaviour where, if the sms is not received, you can opt to receive a phone call?

    Alternatively (or additionally), would it be possible to allow the user to enter his/her own code? That way I could borrow an ios/android phone, put my chip in it, register to whatsapp, then enter my code in yappari.

    Just some thoughts.

    Whaaaaaaat? Whatsapp doesn't send SMSs, it is an Instant Messaging (it is chat) software (as MSN Messenger, Google Talk, or others). And it doesn't let you make phone calls in any way, neither voice over ip calls.

    Registration phone call and SMS. This has nothing to do with the messaging system in Whatsapp.

    Whatsapp is also capable to call your phonenumber and you will hear the number you need to fill in at Whatsapp client.

    2. Another way you can complete verification of your number is by sending SMS to +44 7900 347295 from the mobile number you tried to register with for WhatsApp and type your email address ONLY inside of the SMS message. For example: bob@domain.com (our automated system will send you the code via email once we get your SMS) -- and to make it simple for you, if you are reading this on the iPhone, just tap on the sms://+447900347295 and if you don't get the code in 12 hours, be sure to check your Spam folder first and let us know if there is still no email

    Something I read from the Whatsapp support. I know it rarely happens that people do not get the verification SMS but is it possible to manually fill in the registration code?

    @Malkavian:
    AFAIK, whatsapp sends a confirmation SMS after you register. This is how it sends back information to your phone, telling you you have succesfully registered.
    There is a backup system in the official whatsapp app that, when you don't receive the sms, asks you if you want to receive your code by phone. If you opt for yes, a mechanized voice calls you and dictates your code.
    I was not referring to sending SMS's to other people nor anything of the sort.

    @malkavian Xanaxax is talking about the registration SMS.

    The android SIM swapping trick won't work since they will be different IMEIs.

    The voice registration is in the ToDo, I have to implement it eventually.

    reinob, typing this offhand: perhaps you might something along lines of following commands in a script & let it run:

    while:
    do
    if [ "replace this with command to check screen turned off" ]; then
    kill -STOP `ps -ef | grep '/usr/bin/Yappari' | awk '{ print $1}'`
    sleep 900 # yappari suspended for 15 mins
    kill -CONT `ps -ef | grep '/usr/bin/Yappari' | awk '{ print $1}'`
    sleep 300 # yappari alive for 5 mins
    fi
    done

    you'd also need to hook up to dbus messages that send kill -CONT when screen is turned on.

    De todas formas Whatsapp está teniendo graves problemas en los últimos días. De hecho en este momento está totalmente down y nadie puede conectarse (ni siquiera los clientes oficiales).

    Intenta otro día.

    Scorpius,

    Lo he vuelto a intentar y sigo sin recibir el sms, te pongo la parte final del log por si puedes ver que esta ocurriendo. Muchas gracias.
