I was testing it in a whitelisted-application. I have rtcom-messaging-ui on my whitelist + modified csstheme to display conversations correctly in portrait. If you launch the vkb from a whitelisted rotation the vkb you see the behaviour I described in my previous post.

Mind telling me how you took the screenshot? I am having a hard-time taking a screenshot with vkb on it :P
There are serveral methodes. I usually do
    Code:
    gst-launch-0.10 ximagesrc ! video/x-raw-rgb,framerate=1/10 ! ffmpegcolorspace ! pngenc snapshot=false ! multifilesink location="frame%05d.png"
which makes a screenshot every x times in the current directory named frame0000x.png. Just do a crtl-c after a few seconds. It was a hint from Nicolai a long time ago.

p.s. I do use ssh from a PC for this

When this would be more polish, is going to be included on CSSU?

    Greetings.

More polish? Do you mean polish language? No problems with it, here

Seriously though, it was made by "core members of CSSU team' - whatever it means - so chances are pretty high (unlike for things like FOSSclock and bb-p). To be sure, ask CSSU maintainers in CSSU thread.

not perfect but just what i wanted. shift and backspace icons don't work in portrait

    think i spotted a bug
entire 3rd row of special characters acts strange (when you press blue arrow and sym). have to double tap to get the characters. e.g.`´^~¨°ˇ
^~ also act like this in section with numbers.

EDIT: figured out why, not a bug.

Mr_Pingu, to take screenshot in portrait mode just slide the keyboard out just enough to hit the p key, but before it clicks into place.

I know, but as soon as you press one key, VKB dissappears. Try it, even if keyboard isn't registered as slideout.

The only way left is indeed through gstreamer, never thought about this for using taking screenshots. However you can also make a movie this way.

(if vkb file does not include a "PORTRAIT" layout, fallback
    to default layout ("THUMB"))

    attachements:

updated vkb-tools for gen/decode vkb file with portrait layout.
en_US.vkb: layout file with portrait-mode layout.
If you take a look at the example en_US.xml, you'll see
how to define add PORTRAIT layout.
    hildon-im-fkb_3.9.66-1+0m5_armel.deb based on the
    portrait-orientation-support branch.
edit: doesn't work as expected. please wait until
    the next update

Missed the changes I made for vkbrenderer, you need this
    deb as well
    libhildon-im-vkbrenderer3_3.3.20-1+0m5_armel.deb
With these files you are able to create your own portrait mode
    layout files.

nicolai the en_US.vkb is the original one and not the modded one, maybe you upload the wrong file.

I have "Load Applet" installed for taking screenshots.

Gives you 20 seconds to press the camera button.
    Screenshots saved to home/user/MyDocs/.images
