Aside from the default games that come built in, are there more games that we can download and install? Particularly board games...

ScummVM runs very well on it: http://fanoush.wz.cz/maemo/#scummvm

This enables you to play a huge amount of old Point 'n Click games, and they are extremely fun, extremely playable and very funny. So far I'v gone through Monkey Island 1, Monkey Island 2, Loom and the flight of the Amazon queen on it. They all play great. Running ScummVM makes this thing better than any other portable gaming machine (imo).

My favourite game for OS 2008 is Nethack (not a boardgame, though). It's not on maemo.org yet, but can be found at http://n770galaxy.blogspot.com/ (it's on the right-hand side)

I'm also eagerly awaiting FreeCiv

Forgive me if you already noticed, but internettablettalk has a 'Gaming' forum.

If you are interested in gngeo, look for a thread with Neopop in the title (in the gaming forum). It explains how to get it working and how you can find some roms.
