    Hi jack, I'm liking MaeCalTasks.

I only wish there was a reliable synch between Google Tasks and N900 because I have multiple devices, but as you've said that's outside the scope of MCT and I'm wondering if Erminig or one of the other synch options could be extended.

Anyway, I was wondering if it's normal that the virtual keyboard doesn't work in MaeCalTasks to enter a task name or description?

When I tap the text box in a new task, no VKB comes up. I switch to another app and tap a text box and the VKB appears instantly.

I'm assuming there is a property that needs to be added to these text boxes, so it should be a pretty simple fix.

Are there other task sync tools for google tasks in the repos? Perhaps a client can be written to do it? It seems there are several requests for this now and it may be interesting for me to investigate.

Which version did you install? does this happen in landscape or portrait or both? I just tried on my phone and it's working fine. These are standard Qt LineEdit controls so not sure why it's not working for you.

    hi jackburton,
any chance you upload your latest version to extras-devel?

The latest version is posted in this thread. Extras-dev builder is down so don't expect any updates from there. You have to install the .deb manually.

Two months ago I looked into this and found a bunch of apps that access the new GTasks API. I'll just dump the links that I pared from lots of Google searching here:

    https://developers.google.com/google...asks/downloads
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/libgtasks/
    http://jrupac.wordpress.com/2011/05/...ent-in-python/
    https://bitbucket.org/jrupac/tasky/s...0/src/tasky.py
    http://code.google.com/p/google-api-python-client/

    https://code.google.com/p/qt-google-...source/browse/

    https://code.google.com/p/qml-google...ate%253Dclosed

    https://github.com/gregschlom/GTasks

At the time I was interested in the CLI tasks client and looking at how the code from that could be bolted on to Erminig to support GTasks synch.

I actually have two N900s. The one that the VKB doesn't work with MaeCalTasks on is running CSSU-thumb, although VKB works in other apps such as Xterm and most others. The other one is running CSSU (non-thumb) and the VKB does work in MCT. However, I doubt the -thumb support is the direct cause.

Both N900s seem to be running 1.1.0-0dev201211160300.

What's the next feature people want most? These are the BIG NEW FEATURES I'm considering.
    • Google Task Sync
    • Dependencies/Sequencing
    • GTD
    • Repeating Tasks

Based on your replies, I'll put my efforts in the direction you all want (along with what I want, too)

    Other SMALLER FEATURES planned:
    • Categories
    • Contexts/Location
    • Create Associated Event in Calendar
    • Linked Tasks (for a given task, show related tasks regardless of where in the tree)
    • Linked Folders (for a given folder item, create a link to other folders. E.g. create a folder called "Active Projects" and then create linked folders to Each top folder for specific projects)

Always needed work (complain here to get progress ):
      • Code cleanup/refactoring
      • Performance
      • Bugs

Also, sync evolution (from devel) can allready sync gtasks. Not that it matters so much. Gtasks is gash. There is no option for subtasks/projects etc. Just 1 monolithic list.

The VKB works fine on my main device, which runs PR1.3. My other N900 has the same issue as you describe. It is running stable CSSU. But I also installed some other keyboard apps from extras-devel that probably screws up the default behavior. It seems the VKB app I have installed won't launch over top of the current application modal dialogs (the task and note editor in MCT uses dialogs).
    • Did you happen to install any other keyboards from extras-devel?
    • Is anybody else experiencing this problem?

If sync evolution does tasks already then I will not pursue this. I also don't use gtasks as it is just a 'dumb' list in my opinion.

GTD looks like a good candidate that cuts across all sorts of use cases.

    Repeating tasks would be awesome!
