I want to get a 4xAA external battery pack for my n800 to increase battery life. Originally, I was also planning on making a Y cable for it so that I can also use it for powered USB OTG. But I just saw the ^ hub that has a 5v DC input.

The power extender that I want

has a DC output. Does anyone see any problems with using the following setup:

n800 Host + Extender DC -> Hub -> external HD?

It would mean that I wont need to build a Y cable, and also gives me 4 USB ports instead of 1. I can also hook it up backwards, and charge up to 4 gadgets at the same time.

You can put the battery into the hub, and if there's enough current recharge or maintain the n810 in addition to powering the external HD. However if you are using a 2.5" HD, meritline has a $33 USB OTG box http://www.meritline.com/usb-hdd-enc...rnal-host.html which I haven't tried yet, but has an internal battery and is designed for USB OTG (but as a host, so it isn't guaranteed).

That looks nice, but I was planning on hooking it up to my mp3 player as opposed to an actual external HDD.
