Well not completely useless but all N900 devices should have pulseaudio 0.9.15

However 0.9.15-1maemo... will be the maemo version number.

Starting from '1maemo16' back in 2009
to the AFAIK latest '1maemo43' in PR1.2>

Therefore if using CSSU it should be the latest version because PR1.3 is installed.

I have exactly the same problem. My conky shows hildon-status-menu 60% usage, pulseaudio 35%. I tried killing hildon-status-menu with "dsmetool -k /usr/bin/hildon-status-menu". CPU usage after that drops to normal. Restarting it with "dsmetool -t /usr/bin/hildon-status-menu" starts using too much cpu again. I tried uninstalling all plugins but the problem persists.

What was installed to cause this?

What kernel and Maemo versions do you have?

have you been playing with cssu devel stuff??
