IDK if you have xbindkeys and xdotool on Diablo, but, if yes, it looks like you could find events generated by D-Pad, and assign them to same keys, that mPaint expect as bigger/smaller brush strokes, or changing shades.

    Hiya Estel.

Yes, I have both xbindkeys and xdotool.

The help menu says "Move your mouse over a menu entry, then press the key to assign."

This is going to sound really stupid of me, but I don't get it.

Can anyone confirm that a keyboard shortcut can be done?

what mirror effect...someone will correct this version?
-the brushes can't be moved to other folder
-try to navigate when you open a folder with pictures and folders...a picture will popup and it will remain there
    and more

No it's not. It's simply not well explained even though it works really well. It needs a bit of practice, however.

You go to a menu option, let's say fullscreen under view, that out of the box is assigned to a non existent key, and when you hover it, you press the desired keyboard key, like F, or so.

The problem lies mainly in the conversion from mouse focused UI to a touch focused one. In the desktop version, you would go with your mouse and select, but before you let go of the mouse, so whilst still selected, you press the desired key. Our version is unaltered but it's a little bit more difficult to achieve.

    Heya Anthonie.

I've tried to exactly repeat the steps you stated but can't seem to bind anything.

I'm using a N800 that has no physical keyboard by the way.

Is it possible that you could show me what my /home/user/.mypaint/accelmap.conf would look like if I added these following hot keys?

Up and Down buttons on D-Pad --> bigger and smaller brush strokes

Left and Right buttons --> lighter and darker shade of the current color

    Cheers.

    There you go

    http://pastebin.com/nfGvegad

There may of may not be some gconf keys as well, even though the list on pastebin seems quite complete. I'll have a look at that later if this doesn't work.

    Thank you so much Anthonie!

I'll be sure to test this tomorrow.

I tend to play Draw My Thing over at hambycomb.com on my computer a few times a week.

On that site you only have 60 seconds to sketch something in real time for others to guess your randomly chosen word.

I can't really draw, but using the shading and sizing short cut keys there, it let's me pump out something like this in under a minute.

I hope I can get similar results with this easy setup you gave me.

    Sorry for the late response.

    No it didn't work.

All 4 D-Pad directions still continue to move the screen around with no change in either brush size or coloring.

Xbindkeys refers to the D-Pad as

    Left m:0x0 + c:113
    Right m:0x0 + c:114
    Up m:0x0 + c:111
    Down m:0x0 + c:116

Attached is my new config file and adding a .txt extension to it.
