I have problems to install programs with the application manager.
To install the programs over the catalog and updates are possible.
But when I try to install it from a file it is not possible
The info is:

Install?
***.deb
0 kb

and after OK

Unable to install.
Installation file corrupted.

I try it from different sources.

Help is welcome!

What operating system are you using (os2006/os2007/os2008) and are you downloading deb from maemo.org?

Check your SD card, is it read only? And check if anything is running at the background, apt-load run process would show.

Yea i've noticed a bug with final os2007 on my 800... try saving deb and see if the file size looks right, i downloaded a 600k deb which saved to disk as about 2.5 megs and during download it looped from 99% back around maybe twice.

So save to deb mmc and post if file size is correct.

Hmm, then you have different problem than i had... but you should try this :

close app manager if its open
open xterm
cd /media/mmc1/ (if you have deb in root of mmc)
sudo gainroot

dpkg -i myfile.deb (replace with your filename) to install using command line

hopefully that will work or tell you better, why its failing.

if you needed to get files out of deb you could also type :
dpkg-deb -x myfile.deb xtractdir (to extract file structure into subdirectory xtractdir)

Thanks for you guide, but it is not working.
Here the result:

tar: invalid number ' 11172'
dpkg-deb:subprocessing tar returned error exit status 1
dbkg: error dbkg processing OSX_Firefox.deb (--install):
subprocess dbkg-deb --control returned error exit status 2
Errors wereencountered while processing:
OSX_Firefox.deb

OSX_Firefox
Isn't this a theme? There was a problem about theme which were packed using a different tar that the busybox one.
From what I understand, you can not unpack it on the device. You need another extracting application (another version of tar)
Which other programs fail to install?
