Hello,

I'm a Nokia N800 newbie but I don't understand this strange issue: (wifi) network doesn't connect or if connect to Access Point don't send the packets outside. Sometimes N800 gets an IP address by DHCP but it cannot send packets to gateway. If I try do a ping to router Wifi, doesn't response. I try with several wifi networks (at home, at work...) but anything.

A few days ago all works fine but since yesterday wifi doesn't work. I have flashed the n800 with the last 2008 rom but the problem continues.

What's happening?

I am encountering this same problem with my N810, I tried flashing to the latest version but the problem still occurs... strange. It does work every once in a large while. I usually get the "network error" message, but sometimes I get the wrong wep key address message when when It's right. If anybody knows how to fix this, that would be great.

I had perfect Internet connections until I upgraded to 2008. After I upgraded to 2008 on my N800, I encountered the same problems you describe. So, I flashed back to 2007 and have never had these problems again. So, IMO, there is either a problem with 2008 or a problem with my ATT (sbcglobal.net) DSL modem. I am inclined to think the problem might be solved in a later release of 2008 or after spending a considerable amount of time talking to tech support, either Nokia or ATT.

If you get an IP, what is the answer of ping <gw_name> ?

I'm trying to connect my N800 by wifi but I cannot connect to any AP now :-( because I get "Network Connect Error" always, so I cannot answer to your question. I'm going to try to downgrade the OS2008 to lower version.

Thanks

Updated: Downgrading to OS2007 fixed the issue. I hope an OS2008 more tested version.
