I did not have extras-testing and I disabled extras-devel just now.

Updating via HAM succeeds (i first had to install maemo-optify-runonce manually, and then remove /targets/links/scratchbox.config, because without it, ham wanted to exectue fakeroot which is not present on N900), the phone reboots and says the update went ok, but just makes it to a state when the status area is shown and hildon-desktop keeps restarting (the name of my operator and a microb bookmark flash every second or so before its reboots itself again).

Before update, the versions are as follows.

    dpkg -l |grep libxml
ii libxml2 2.6.32.dfsg-5maemo4+0m5+0cssu0-thumb0 GNOME XML library

    dpkg -l | grep zlib
    ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-9.osso9+0m5 compression library - runtime

You have the wrong libxml version installed, fix that with:

    Code:
    apt-get install libxml2=2.6.32.dfsg-5maemo4+0m5+0cssu1+thumb0 zlib1g=1:1.2.7.dfsg-13maemo1+0cssu1+thumb0

Yep, that solved the problem, thanks! I wander why it thought this libxml version was a downgrade, but now I am finally up-to-date:-).

    Does your download fail everytime?

you need to setup cssu testing repository according to mirror since the default one (now up sometimes) has cssu T6 instead of cssu t7

    * I may have the name wrong, but the sentiment will be the same. It will appear instead of the Installation tab.
There is no Details button. The only button is "Create backup". I already have a recent backup.

When I check the Log there are no errors in it to tell me to what the problem is.

I only have Nokia, maemo.org Extras, and CSSU-thumb enabled. -extras-testing and -extras-devel are disabled.

    Edit:
OK, you mean clicking on the update and looking at Details.

Yes, there is a Problems tab and it lists "Application packages missing: busybox, libmaemosec, etc.".

I'm guessing you can't go from CSSU Stable to CSSU thumb then. Wasn't looking forward to a reflash so I guess I'll pass on this. Thanks.

@mooninite - you can go from stable to thumb, it is just that there are some problems with community-testing repo, see:
