I don't think the standard battery is 1000mAh, I think it's 1500mAh(at least in the n800). Nokia sells a rechargable external job, but as far as I know an extended-life internal is a no go. And I've looked, trust me. It would be great if someone would come out with a 1800 or 2000mAh internal though.

I don't think you can fit a 2000 mAh battery. It would not fit; at least, the cover would not be able to close. I think an 1800 mAh should be possible though.

Just to help qualify that statement, the N8x0 will not charge via mini-USB. You are referring to a USB-to-Nokia-charging-connector charger

The E61 and N800 share the same battery - BP-5L, a 1500 mAh pack. The E61i uses the BP-4L, also a 1500 mAh pack, but smaller.

Also, I'd say they could make a larger capacity battery, seeing that the rear door of the N800 is perpetually loose.

Given Nokia's battery-pricing, I would not rush out to buy a higher capacity Nokia battery. It's ridiculous when you consider the low prices of other computer gear.

I know this device at http://www.boxwave.com/products/mini...-n800_2569.htm
is for the N800 but will it also work for the N810 via the power port?

I use a USB-to-Nokia charging cable for my tablets, but it's charging very slowly via USB. But it's nice to keep it charged while working with it near the computer.
The cable I use is by the German company Hama and is available at Media Markt stores for a few EUR.

Rock, that will charge the N810, but the USB connector is wrong. I've seen Mini-B to Micro-B adapters, which would make it both charge and communicate.

To my knowledge, there is no hi-cap battery for N800 or N810. But, if a fellow had or made a spare back-door, it could be modded to accomodate a larger battery, and an adapter could be made to fit a different battery (same chemistry, different form-factor and higher capacity) as a replacement. I know no reason this wouldn't work, though I'm aware that any mucking with Li-ion batteries is both dangerous and warranty-voiding.
I'm thinking of doing this, but can't decide whether to make a clip-on backpack with a powered USB hub and 5V charger, or just a replacement battery & lid... Don't really have to worry till I have time.

I have a power adapter that uses both AC and the power port in cars, and has a usb port. I ordered this usb cable http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4860
hoping it will work. If it does work I'm thinking of also getting this battery pack http://www.digitalhomethoughts.com/n...-released.html

try

or this
http://shop.eten.hu/mugen-power-3600...lue-p-475.html
for a little more beef.

Myself? I just cobbled together a 4 AA battery holder and a small power plug for my n810. With 4 rechargable AA's, it works fine.
