Not sure what I did wrong: I just cannot rename libgstdspilbc.so, the X-terminal always tell me:
mv: cannot rename 'libgstdspilbc.so': Permission denied

I'm trying to reinstall SIP phone on my N800 with OS2008, last time when I set the SIP, I was able to rename the file and make the SIP work.
I did enable 'red pill mode' in Application Manager, then entered the following:
1. sudo gainroot
2. cd /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10
3. mv libgstdspilbc.so libgstdspilpbc.so.off

#1 and #2 work fine, but the #3 always gives me the "Permission denied" message!

What I did wrong?

Anybody? it seems that even after the step 1, I still didn't get root right.

You need to install first the 'becomeroot' package.

Install the Becomeroot package by adding the following repository to application manager:
Code:
Web Address: http://eko.one.pl/maemo
Distribution: bora
Components: user

Thanks Saturn, it's seems that I have to do it this time. But what I feel confused is, last time, I didn't install becomeroot, nor OpenSSH, and I successfully gained root and disabled iLBC codec...

Well, I don't have a clean system to give it try. Why don't you try it with the red pill only and copy/paste here what you get in the xterm? maybe someone can answer if he has all the info.

just a thought..

That's exactly what I did last time -- red pill only then the above 3 steps. Because I've tried tens of times since yesterday, I can clearly remember what I got for each step:

1. Red Pill: Enter Application Manager > Tools > Application catalogue, "New", enter "matrix" in the "Web Address" field, click "Cancel". Everything works fine, then I close the Application Manager.

2. Enter X-Term, type: sudo gainroot, got the following message: Enable RD mode if you want to break your device

3. Type: cd /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10, no message

4. Type: mv libgstdspilbc.so libgstdspilpbc.so.off got the following message:
Cannot rename 'libgstdspilbc.so', Permission denied.

Last time, I remember I did the same thing, but successfully renamed the "libgstdspilbc.so"
