Can you locate the file /home/user/.yappari/cache/profilephoto.png ? Do you have that file?
yes i have that file.
quit and restarted yappari and after a while the picture showed up on starting.
does yappari download the profile picture from whatsapp servers on loading the profile page or does it have to be changed to show?

Yappari reads the photoprofile.png file to show the picture you last chose.
If you change the picture, Yappari sends thew new one to the WhatsApp servers and save it in photoprofile.png.
So photoprofile.png is the "cache" of your profile picture and that's why it is in the cache directory.

No, it is not set that way. It seems that you have a permisology problem.
Try this:
Code:
chwon -R user:users /home/user/.config/scorpius
EDIT: Also if Yappari crashes you will lose the data counters. Yappari shouldn't crash.
Looks like I could manage to fix the crashes. Thank you to all the people that sent their roster.db and helped installing dozens of Yapparis and trying over and over without getting fed up of me. You people are awesome!
I'll release Yappari 0.0.33 with fixes for those crashes in like an hour or so.
