Out of curiosity - why have you executed "russian roulette" script? You're not the type of user that it was targetted at, when vi_ have published it for the first time.
Right the method I used was to first of all use a command called dd to make an image of the drive on a file in my hard disk. Then I would make a copy of that image, and I think I used a program called photorec to recover the deleted files.
So what this means is, ideally, you'll need a minimum of 2 times the size of the partition you want to recover on your hard disk.
In my defense though, I only ran that script 9 times.
I have to confess I almost think you are joking, apologies if I am wrong here... You have 3745 postings on the forum, and you have joined TMO back on 2007...
How is it humanly possible you missed the "rm -rf" bit in the script??
And you ran it multiple times??

Ah ah! I remember two years ago when I type the vi_ command out of curiosity on my laptop, and I didn't live on the first time! Then I learned a big lesson. Don't type commands without thinking a bit before... First I was a bit pissed off at vi_ (well, of course I didn't backup some important staff), thinking (why this a$...le put these kind of commands as signature?), but well it was my fault to be stupid, I could only blame this on me. I hope you learned a lesson too...
