Hallo!

I am facing a problem with my N9.
I did a Cut-Paste of my DCIM folder from my phone to my Computer.
Obviously, it emptied the Gallery.
I Copy-Paste it back to the phone, and now, I can see only the videos. Pictures taken with the phone are kinda hidden.

I have found few topic about Gallery problem, but I am not sure I have the same one, and resetting the tracking scares me a lot as it seems that I will loose messages/contacts/pictures?

Do you have any idea how I can have my photos back in the Gallery app ?

Thanks guys
Paul

A little search would have helped but anyways.

Follow this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=85863

Read it first especially the end pages. No need to reset Tracker.

Gallery re-indexes the files so probably it takes some time to refresh all the pics/videos when you paste them back into the phone.

hope it helps.

I have never seen a topic messed up like this one, it's crazy.

Well, I finally reach the interesting point, so I downloaded the gallerybugx file (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=85863&page=14).
Then I installed it.
Then type in the prompt:
Code:
~ $ gallerybugx
there u go :D
exiting
~ $
I still don't see my previous pictures. Interesting thing, I can see the new one I just took in the Gallery. Any idea ?

Cheers,
Paul

edit:
I did a reboot right after those lines. I have PR1.3.

Did you transfer the Images to your computer and then pasted them back? After that it takes a while to re-index the pics etc.

that was necessary.

Yes, the topic is messy.

Restart tracker. You won't lose any data, just indexes and even that only temporarily until they are rebuilt again. I recommend doing it while on a charger, the CPU load will make a whirlpool in the battery. Expect the rebuilding process to take 2-3 hours if you have lots of images/videos/messages.

Resetting tracker does cause you to lose data. I remember doing it and I lost all my contacts, music, messages.

Edit: Tracker aftermath confirmed here http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...46&postcount=5

I restarted tracker a number of times before I ditched it altogether and never lost a byte of data. You must have had a different problem.

Edit:
After restarting tracker, Media Player appears empty for a while which may look like lost music/videos. You need to wait until the indexes are rebuilt.

Edit 2:
Damn, just noticed this is about the N9 not N900. I'll get me coat...

@khan.orak

Just to make it clear, steps are:
1. Cut-Past all my files from my phone to my computer
2.
~ $ gallerybugx
there u go
exiting
~ $
3. Copy-Paste my files from the computer to my phone
4. Anymore steps ?

Yes these are the steps.

Give it some time to re-index.

if this doesn't work, you will.unfortunately have to take the Reset Tracker Route setting right the directory paths for Pics, Music, etc which usually get corrupted.

Before that, you'll have to backup msgs, media, contacts.

EDIT: oh and after 3rd Step, Reboot
