As there doesn't seem to be much chance for GIMP getting @(_-#+% fixed for armel in wheezy (bug with crash on font properties tool), I decided to downgrade to squeeze. This mean, that I have to downgrade python too, as GIMP requires version < 2.7. So follow bluez... Now, while squeeze bluez *used* to work and install OK, now it throw error during installation:

Am I missing something obvious, or in meantime, they have, actually, managed to f*ck bluez in Squeeze, requiring us (< 2.6.32 kernel users) to pin older version?

Before anyone asks, it turned out, that downgrading python = downgrading libreoffice and half of desktop env. things - which means, that I can, as well, downgrade to squeeze as a whole. Which I'm probably going to do, as wheezy irritates the the sh... outta' me, with all those no-one-is-interested-about-fixing-for-armel bugs.

while unrelated to GIMP, the main problem is glibc. While so far, it manifested itself "only" by non-working gparted, I ensured, that it's *not* gparted's, but glibc fault. This means, that other things may not work properly, too - I must admit, that I haven't tested it extensively.

Aside from that, Chromium is borked for ARM.

Will there be a new image Easy Debian of stable release (Wheezy - debian-7.2.0-armel-DVD-1.iso)?
Preferably without Chrome with LibreOffice.

Re chromium bug:

It seems, that they have some problems contacting sulu. Or their mail delivery system sucks, as it seems to me, that bug observers received mail addressed at bug submitter. Regardless, I thought it may be good idea to paste it here, as sulu seems to be very alive to me

Unlike chromium, which still suffers from same problems...

I haven't tried chromium any further since I filed that bug report and I don't even have an environment set up to test it. I wil set one up but that might take some days.

Just in case you have an ED Jessie image, can you please create a gdb output as described here?:

In fact, it's equally opposite - currently, I'm using a full Squeeze ED. I would love to backup my current ED and upgrade to Jessie, just for reporting this bug and checking state of others (glibc, gimp), but sadly, I'm currently on cellular data plan which 500 mb transfer limit (glory of the 80's ), which also act as my main ISP 'till new year, at least. Which means I'm unable to download all relevant update packages. Sorry

I see.

Yesterday in the evening I tried to resurrect my qemu-arm VM but due to some recent* bug in qemu it can't boot from hdd images anymore. Now one needs to boot from an nfs share which I haven't set up so far.
My first attempt to circumvent the qemu bug was to run qemu in a VBox Squeeze VM, but the qemu VM wasn't running stable.

So I started a dist-upgrade of my Wheezy image on the N900 in the morning, holding on to the desperate hope that the watchdog won't kill it.
I'll know more when I'm back home.

Maybe you can hunt some hotspot in the city center. It might not be blazing fast but maybe would let you fetch the packages.
