sorry that's all the data I have so far, rest is google knowledge for those terms. I still don't have the TRM of the modem at hand.

I would gladly buy a replacement board to breathe new life into my prematurely deceased N900 (mini USB socket ripped off.)

do we have any anti-theft features applicable on this project, a way that my data will be secure and I can retrieve/find my phone from anywhere? There were scripts that would trigger ssh to send a text to an alternative number but, that might not suffice that need since if someone flashes the phone, it means ssh is gone too?

Perhaps there is way out to enhance security and recovery, maybe sthin that won't be flashed or locks the handset from being flashed?

This is kind a offtopic, I think. Sry. But I agree of improving Maemo's security features.
You are right Freddie if someone flashes (vanilla + fiasco) N900, your data and ssh are gone.
Even phone lockcode can be hacked now. But Estel has truecrypt guide .
Check that out and SMSCON. NOLO flashlock would be nice .

Back to topic. I have been following this thread quite diligently. It is really good project idea for our N900 users and devs.
But now I'm in the middle of two options. Depens on my wallet amount though.
Either go with this project or I purhase Jolla 'cos of sweet price point.
I'm electronics technician by edu. and I understand difficulties of engineering board and the realistic production costs.
I as a power user would like to express here my thanks to all of you Maemo5 devs in case of me leaping to Jolla.
Great quality apps vs crawling huge android markets.
I really hate that last part (crawling).
I would like to know final price tag when this hardware design & prod. comes to near complete.

    Questions:

Will this be alive for orders only a certain amount of time?
Deadline (how much more work with options)?
Will there be a separate repository for Neo900?

Nevertheless, I would covet drop-in rep board
    • 1GHz Soc
    • 512MB-1GB RAM [swap lag free multitasking&calling]
    • LTE (800/1600/2800) OR faster 3G
    • Micro Sim
    • IR TR/RX [pierogi/lirc + teaching,ohoujeah]
    • Rest of RX-51 board specs
PS. dos1 keep the rss feed updated,
    THANKS for making this possible

    Great initiative, already voted!

But one thing keeps bothering me, why a resistive touchscreen?

    1. Because the project is for the board only, using original other parts
    2. Because resistive is much better!

Read the thread with its about 150 replies to the same question.

[[[Because changing the screen would require, again, modifications to the hardware board.
And software libraries to be rewritten. Would you pay extra?
Device casing has a limited amount of desing space to the pcb.
    YDK what&where this project aims?]]]
To make N/Neo900 fully utilized pleasant to use and hackable. Right?
I personally like resistive over capasitive 'cos I find capasitive screens to be over sensitive. Especially in winter resistive will come handy. My fingers won't frose

I thought this was "all hardware from scratch" because 500+€ for the board and components to retro fit seems too much (and because my n900 screen is broken:/)

but i get you are saying, makes sense i guess

and I still think this a great effort from the community!
