    Hi!
This is my first post here, so please don't flame me

I got my n770 in march but hadn't time to contribute anything to the community yet.

I am planning to write some articles concerning various aspects of the N770.

Here is the first one, covering the topic how to optimize videos for best viewing on the Nokia 770. Please let me know what you think.

    Preparing Videos for the N770

I hope that it's useful to some of you. There's a day's work in it...

Very useful, probably best with a mencoder example with your recommended settings

And if the appropriate mencoder settings can be worked out, I can add them as presets to my preset-based video encoder.

have a look at tcpmp forums http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/, there are encoding guides for palm and other low performance PDAs so they take it also from the performance point of view (i.e. what is costly to decode)

As for the guide mentioned above, it looks good. I don't think the information about N770 audio is true (32Khz maximum) but otherwise it is definitely useful.

as far as i can remember i once saw a data sheet of the n770 processor and the audio dsp was described as 32khz max. thats where i got that number from... if somebody could check that it would be nice.

yes there are many guides for dvd->xvid etc, i wanted to focus on optimizing the output. i just dloaded mplayer&mencoder and am going to test it out soon. if somebody has already experimented with optimizing the temporal/spatial filtering and cropping etc, please tell me about the settings you used.

the next article will be about scummvm but it will be much shorter ;-)

btw... does nobody want to take the quiz?

If I recall correct OMAP 1710 is used in n770: http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/wtb...contentId=4670

Apparently there are different options for audio but if you click on that part you get a datasheet which says "up to 48kHz" sample rate. But I don't know if the best audio option was chosen for n770.

And yeah, how does this article translate for us mencoder users? Should we switch to other tools?
