After a fresh reflash of my N900, I installed Sygic Mobile Maps 10 (the file was SetupMobileMaps.deb). I copied the MyDocs/Maps folder contents from previous installation (around 2 GB).
Unfortunately, the app crashes miliseconds after starting it (it doesn't even show anything). Any idea what could be wrong and how to fix it?
What qwazix said. Run it from x-term. I'm not sure about dependancies but Sygic requires a certain layout of its folders in MyDocs and will crash if the layout is different. It can be persuaded by examining/editing /usr/share/applications/hildon/smm10.desktop.
Found out I forgot to copy /home/user/MyDocs/Drive folder contents. Now that I did that, the app still crashes, but in the Xterm, the output is:
set_stream 'ALSA Playback'
Segmentation fault
How should I proceed?
EDIT: Never mind. It turned out I also forgot to copy Res directory structure. I honestly had no idea which directories belonged to Sygic (other than /Maps). Seems to work fine now.
Had the same dilemma for a year or so (and was kinda hoping I'd never have to find out). Now I see that wasn't such a big deal after all.
As for the installation file -- I have no clue how it was delivered when she bought SMM. Maybe the setup file was downloaded from their account, and the maps were then added subsequently after the license was checked (pure speculation, though).
