    Hi,

I want to get rid of whatsapp and unsecure chat clients. It should be possible to use and connect to chat clients on all major plattforms like N900 Maemo, linux, android, ios, windows. So I found jitsi and off course off the record as a option. Searching did bring up some older postings about both jitsi and otr for pidgin, but could not verify that those are fully working nowadays on the n900. So is there a way/ secure chat client howto anywhere?

    Yours Baggacfreak.

    P.S.:
Just got a old N900 from a friend for 20 Euros to play with without messing up my normal day life N900!

I would recommend using VoIP and it's instant messaging module. Same for voice or video calls

As for "security" of your messages, depending on your needs, you may implement various layers. For critical things, I would estabilish P2P tunnel, and forward conversation through it. For everyday use, you shouldn't care, especially, if you're not securing more critical things, like old hack'able e-mail.

    Hi,

do you have a link to the VoIP thing you said? Is it open SIP and not skype MS? Another thought was to use a ssh server and linx talk xD

    CU!
