    EMMC N900 lifespan

    Hello everyone!
Recently I've bought used N900 (made in korea).
Yesterday It turned out for me, that EMMC has limited usage.

Now i have samoe questions. I've searched the forums, but didn't find exact answers.

    1) Are there any recommendations for the memory usage, that will help the mmc lifespan become very very long.

    2) Approximately how long the emmc lifespan will be if I install some useful apps, not very often take some photos, and sometimes put text files in the phone memory?

    3) How many write cycles has the n900 memory - 10 000, 100 000, 1 000 000 ?

    4) As I understood, every move reduses the emmc "durability", because of RAM usage. That's right?

    5) What's the name and serial of the chip that is used in N900 as flash memory? Can i order it? (I guess, it is Toshiba's controller)

    6) Is there any way to make the phone use mmc flash card as it's RAM and storage ? (I didn't find any thread with solution, though)

Thanks for your answers and sorry for my English (:

    1) Swap on the SD card.
    2) A very long time.
    3) See (2), worrying about the NAND is more pressing than the eMMC.
    4) Yes, it does use up a write cycle, but it won't matter for a very long time.
    5) Toshiba THGBM1G8D8EBAI2
    6) Read this thread - iirc there was a better method that involved setting SD card as mmcblk0, but I forgot where it was.

A simple change is putting as much as you can on uSD.
Also putting Swap on uSD will greatly reduce flash wear.

The most common thing to kill the N900's eMMC is Multiboot which is now greatly depreciated.

You mean NAND in this case, not eMMC, I assume?
