Yeah it is looking like the N95 is the best option.

Ill prolly go for the -3 as i would rather have removable memory.

The option to run it as a hotspot as mentioned by phil would be a huge asset. being able to pull the sim from works treo and connect my laptop via 802.11. thats just to good to pass up.

Phill can you please point me to that software.

Again thanks folks. UK 3G I can live without until I move back in a few years. Time for an upgrade by then anyway. Maybe there will be more 3G world phones by then.

Jaykie beat me to it. JoikuSpot works great as a quick way to get net access or to share out to others.

N95 8GB has more ram too. Build quality (of the slider especially) might be a tad better as well..

That being said I haven't run out of memory on my euro N95 since the first firmware update..

I looked it up last night.

The EU N95 has 64MB ram and the EU N95 8G has 128MB

The US N95 came out a little later then the EU one with 128MB ram

This is called the N95-3

So in the US the only difference between the N95 and the N95 8G is the 8GB instead of Micro SD 2.8inch screen instead of 2.6 and the all black color.

I think I would rather removable flash then 8gb on board.
And while the larger screen and black color is cool. It is not worth the almost $200 diff they are available for.

So I have decided on the N95-3. I will place the order Thursday morning at Amazon. Ill keep you all up todate. And probably be looking to your for futher help and advice. Thanks all round.

Thanks both of you. I Looked it up. Will be nice if they upgrade it to offer secured connections. But looks like a real hot app even without. Ill defiantly make use of it.

So I started thinking I might get the N95 as a new phone and then found out that Sprint does not allow that phone even tho Sprint will be partnering with Nokia to develop WiMax. Different cell systems was news to me. Sprint vs TMobile for example. I don't think it is obvious to the general public that in the US we have differing and incompatible cell systems in place.

I agree the best choice is the N95-3. I have an N75 and the battery life is abysmal. Its so bad that I carry a charger with me wherever I go. Unfortunately I just dropped the money to buy a N810 and so cannot afford a new phone right now.

Nods you have to be fairly techie to notice or care. Then to be honest its mainly techie people who even know about the option of buying unlocked phones here or back home in the UK.

I told someone at work a fellow software developer I was getting a Unlocked phone so I could switch the card from my work treo. Her response what is an unlocked phone.

Currently Sprint and Version benifit from not allowing people to move other phones onto the network. Even though the gov is looking into forcing them to be more open and unlock phones after contract expire both only have one competitor that they can be moved to.

This also limits the phones available in the US Look at the T-Mobile.co.uk website and compare it the the .com one the selection of phones is way greater.

I have thanked you all before but thought I would do so again.

It is sort of cool that I came here for advice on connecting a N810 to a N75 when considering buying a phone with the Device.

And got outstanding and informed advice on the N75 and N95.

The community spirit in this forum is one of the best on the internet. And I have been lurking here for a while while I waited to buy a Tablet.

With an internet full of flame baiting and trolls. It is nice to see a genuinely nice community of helpful informed and friendly members.
