While we're mud-slinging, did you hear ThoughtFix is a biased fanboy and secretly on the Nokia payroll? He goes to all those events for the back alley grope fests.

Hehehe.

The best and worst parts of open-door communities: anyone can join.

But I don't think this is in the spirit of the ITT.

There are a great many n00b unfriendly Linux communities out there whose reference answers to any n00b help not only involve saying "use the search button" and "read the FAQ" but aso include various denegrating comments that just leave n00bs feeling afraid to ask for fear of attack by a community whose aims ought to be support.
If someone asks a basic question but they do it in a polite and sincere way, the best response IMHO is to equally politely direct them to the newbies board.

I honestly don't think the wiki is for real newbies yet. I might even start a thread about this elsewhere, but suffice to say it's too inconsistent, too full of gaps, too full of out-of-date material, too misleading with topic titles and too unsure of its intended audience.

Thoughtfix on Nokia's payroll? Never heard that one. But I do hear he hangs out in the bushes at their business campuses and when they're done their lunches and go inside he runs out and stuffs his pockets with their discarded french fries until security chases him off and then he goes home and smells them.

(Ok, so I ripped 90% off that off of Family Guy.)

Texrat just blatently duct tapes his camera phone to his shoe and hangs out in the bathroom.

Which is bad, but what's worse is the General pays him for the images and puts them on his website.

Whose only paid member is Karel.

Yeah!

Heh. The joke is on him: I don't pay; I get everything from your torrent.

BTW Tex, don't tape over the lens anymore.
Or tape the phone with the lens facing down.
