Well this is a Linux based phone, flashing from Linux always gives the best results. Use the fine wiki article on updateing the firmware http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware to flash your phone.
Most of the time it is the buggy USB-driver that is failing in Windows systems during flashing process.
