thanks...will let ya know...

BTW, apparently it's always good to charge a new LiON device fully and let it run down completely a couple times so the device can calibrate the power management software. Especially with the so-called "smart LiON" batteries.

apparently Buy.com and somewhere else I think had a one day sale on Feb. 5...sold out in hours apparently. The N800 was something like $189 including free shipping. There is a thread here somewhere.

Yeah I did see the buy.com thread. I purchased my IT a day before the offer went live.

GeneralAntilles,
Yay, it worked! Thanks man you are my hero

Now to never switch off and patiently wait for the firmware upgrade

BTW can I upgrade to os2008 by using the same technique. And more importantly, will my rpoblem go away if I upgrade.

I know the upgrade question is wishful thinking

This concerns me as I ordered my N800 on Friday. If it is a bad batch or something, I hope the tip the General posted works for me!

I got mine (N800) from Amazon on Feb 8th. I've turned it on and off a dozen times without any problem. One question to all who are experiencing the power-on problem: Where is your NIT made? Mine's Made in Korea. I expected a German made unit but I guess Nokia makes at least some NIT's in Korea. I wonder if any of you own an NIT that's from Germany? Also, if your's is German, does it have the power-on problem? Thanks!

This is very interesting. I ordered mine from AMAZON.COM on 2/6 and just got it today on 2/20. I guess they were waiting to get a new lot in or something. Anyway, this one I got is also bad. Mine was made in Korea.

I've found what the problem is too. If you leave the memory card out, no problem occurs. As soon as you try to do something that requires the memory card, the system locks and then tries to shut down. But instead, it just sits on the NOKIA shutdown screen indefinitely. When the screen backlight goes off, it seems like the unit is off, when in reality it is frozen.

Also, the "This application has stopped responding, click ok to end it" function doesn't work. Nothing can end the processes that are running.

The only way is to remove the battery and then put it back in and you can boot up again.

I was able to put on OS2008 and still am having the same issues.
