Yeah, but I was trying to figure out why HAM was showing an old version; if it was doing that for the other applications too, I could not rely on it at all.
Disabling Nokia System Software Updates from the application catalogs solved the problem (if it matters, this was the single catalog preceding extras-devel in the catalog list).
Yes, that's no problem. Doing that will also fix the 'set to landscape' bug. I'll do it this weekend.
Has the set to landscape bug been fixed? I think I'm seeing it, assuming it means the orientation setting changes to landscape on its own. Using 1.9.1.
Hi, after the update to 1.9.1 I experienced a problem where cutetube was unable to save downloaded files. I thought I'd try a reinstall so I uninstalled cutetube.
Now I am unable to install cutetube due to a dependency:
Unable to update 'cuteTube'
Application packages missing: libspeex1 (>=1.2~ beta 3-1)
I've found a similar problem mentioned in this thread where Marxian states that cutetube does not depend on this file.
So where does this dependency come from?
I've tried an apt-get install but the same dependency is shown:
/home/user # apt-get install cutetube

cuteTube does not explicitly depend on libspeex1, but it is a dependency of gstreamer, which is required by libqtm-12.
n900user259, why you type "n"? Just type "y" and wait till update will complete
Why? Because I shouldn't have to. The application should be able to install using HAM.
Also when the developer states in the same thread that the program does not depend on the package and HAM gives a warning about the same package something's not right.
Just because I can type apt-get install cutetube doesn't mean I will blindly say 'Y' to every question that pops up.
You need to know what you're saying yes to.
Furthermore I'd like to know the reason why this problem even occured and get it fixed.
I tried to download a youtube video. I started the download and then moved to other screens (youtube, other apps, etc). After a while the N900 shut down completely. About 3/4 of the video can be played; the thumbnail is not displayed correctly in the Archive. Any advice as to what could have gone wrong or I did wrong? My N900 never shuts down out of the blue.
Having now upgraded to 1.9.5 (previous post was with 1.9.1), I downloaded the same video. It finished ok, but the thumbnail is not shown in Archive. Instead, it appears as a .jpg file in the cutetube download folder. Repeating the same download again, the same happens, and another (identical) jpg is created in the cutetube download folder.
Can you try moving the .jpg from .../cuteTube to .../cuteTube/.thumbnails? (Note the dot, as in cuteTube slash dot thumbnails.) Then start CuteTube and check if the video reappeared in Archive.
I have a different problem. A lot of videos I download play fine as Archives in CuteTube but do not play at all in Media Player. Why? It seems completely random (or at least I have not found any pattern yet), but it is consistent: the same video either plays fine or not.
