By watching more and more of NokiaX, it seems there are a lot similarities to MeeGo, which is good, and then the live tiles looks better on nokia x than on any other WP lumia device ... It's just funny... and it's 70% cheaper aswell.

Here is an interesting (yet brief) article from slashgear regarding how developers can monetise their app payments through the Nokia store, with Amit Patel...

    http://www.slashgear.com/nokia-x-to-...world-02319099

And discussion of the growth of app submissions to the Nokia store with an embedded YouTube video of Jussi Makinen walking through the UI...

    http://www.slashgear.com/nokia-x-her...ance-01319074/

Surprisingly, Jussi has admitted that he has been working on the Nokia X line for 18months now. It does make one wonder how long ago it has been since the board approved the decision to go ahead with an Android device?

Well spotted haha, I missed that

Edit: It appears as though the Nokia X android ROM is available on the Nokia Care Suite already (credit to the xda forum)

Wow! What has the world come to? And what next? Microsoft actually contributing to open source?
Microsoft already do contribute to open source (Linux). Their contributions are pretty much all related to Hyper-V so that Linux will run nicely a guest OS. They'd rather people not choose another virtualisation solution or even cloud solution in the case of Azure (believe it or not, they offer Linux on Azure!) because Hyper-V can't run Linux.

I was also skeptical at first about the truth of the initial Nokia X leaks but the more it was discussed, I thought it might just be plausible. Microsoft do seem to be embracing Linux more and more. They now have as many as 19 apps in Google's Play store.

As I previously posted, I'm sure it's all part of another "embrace, extend, extinguish" grand plan. I was wrong with my prediction that the Normandy would run Windows Phone + Dalvik but I wouldn't rule out the possibility of it happening in the future, especially if they are talking about Nokia X being a stepping stone for people to move to Windows Phone. Those people won't migrate to Windows Phone if they can't use the same apps.

There seems to be very little information available on the architecture of the "Nokia X software platform" OS. I find their claim of 75% Android app compatibility to be rather low for an OS that has been supposedly forked from Android. Out of curiosity, how does that compare to Android compatibility on Sailfish?

[EDIT]It seems that the issue of Android app compatibility on Nokia X is a political one rather than a technical one. They appear to have removed the APIs for Google services to force developers into using their services instead (source).[/EDIT]

Ahh, thanks for that. As with a wave of a magic want, I have now lost the last smidgen of interest in this device.

Are you ready for the X2? Well if you are not then you still have some time.

According to gizmodos sauce, MS are working on the successor, the supposed full specs include a home button, because y'know... Press and hold is far to difficult a concept to master?
