And I was referring to ... if you need the background images to be in .png format to be changed with the Ambiance settings, because I see only the pngs and none of my images (in jpeg format).

You can apply JPG or PNG files if they have 480x854 resolution (settings-applet has filter ), so if your image isn't 480x854 you can't choose it. Crop image you want via Gallery to 480x854 px and you will see
