Now that I once again have a working device, I can give you a little feedback..

Yes, confirmed. The metadata in my images now has "Australia" instead of "AUSTRALIA". But the bad news is that gecode/location tags are still not showing when viewing the image in the gallery. The tags don't show in cameraplus' gallery either (but I don't know if they are supposed to).

    This is working great now.

    These are very nice.

They do not show up in the application gallery so it's expected. They also show up here in gallery so I am not sure what could be going wrong.

If they are in the images then they should be indexed and should show up...

Could you send me an image you've taken with cameraplus with geotags that do show up in stock gallery. I'd like to compare the meta info with my images and also see if the tags will show up when I put the image on my N9.

    Thanks!

Thanks. And the good news is that I have solved the problem, the bad news is that I didn't actually need this pic from you, so my apologies for the run-around.

A messed up ~/.config/user-dir.dirs file was to blame. All the XDG directories were pointing to $HOME, once I set them all to the right places (eg XDG_PICTURES_DIR=$HOME/MyDocs/Pictures), and ran xdg-user-dirs-update, it all started coming good.

So thank you very much for your patience with me and my stupidity.

Oh, I looked at the meta data and there are some differences that you may be interested in.

To get a list of the keys I did...
    Code:
    exiv2 -u -pa pr your.jpg|awk '{print $1;}'|sort>your.keys

    exiv2 -u -pa pr my.jpg|awk '{print $1;}'|sort>my.keys

    diff -u my.keys your.keys
From that I can say that the following keys exist in your images, but are not in mine...

    Exif.Image.Orientation
    Xmp.tiff.Orientation

And the following are in my images, but not in yours...

    Exif.GPSInfo.GPSAltitude
    Exif.GPSInfo.GPSAltitudeRef
    Exif.Image.Artist
    Xmp.dc.creator
    Xmp.exif.GPSAltitude
    Xmp.exif.GPSAltitudeRef
    Xmp.iptc.Location
    Xmp.iptcExt.LocationShown[1]/LocationDetails:Sublocation

Most of that is probably nothing to worry about, but I do wonder why you get orientation set and I don't.

Never mind. That fixed itself when I fixed ~/.config/user-dir.dirs as well.

I have been trying to get fast capture (ZSL) to work but I am miserably failing on my N950. Stock camera locks up when I enable it. I don't recall if it was supported on N950 or not :/

Did anyone manage to get fast capture working on N9 with stock camera ui ?

Do you mean "Continuous Shutter Mode"? Yes, that works on N9, however it's not brilliant. It is OK for short bursts of 8 to 10 captures, but much more than that and the camera will pause while everything catches up.

I must admit that when I tried it I did have a dozen other apps running so the performance didn't shock me.

I know it works on N9 but I am asking about N950
