How is it possible that my n800 (running latest 2007 OS) can't handle SIP/VOIP calls but plays more than beatyfull 128k radio streams..? What's up with that.. I allmost can hear what's been said but there's no chance that other person cold possibly understand my words.. (tested through skype test call..)

Is your mouth close to the microphone? are you using a headset?

I generally wear earphones and speak directly into the N800 mic, and I hold the N800 close to my mouth so it doesn't have to amplify my voice, which adds noise.

in my experience, when it works, the sound is clear .... When I had os 2007, I used extensively skype, and now I've switched to Voip. From a sound perspective, it is good. Form the easy of use one a bit less.

Solution could be in different voice codec..?
OK, here's the thing which i discovered using maemo-recorder.
If you want to record a voice message you can choose between three options:
-iLBC, 1 channel, 8000 Hz, 8 bits
-PCM A-law, 1 channel, 8000 Hz, 8 bits
-WAV, 1 channel, 8000 Hz, 16 bits.
Short test voice message recorded with first option sounds exactly like Skype test voice call with mouth not close enugh to the microphone.
Test voice messages recorded in two other options (with mouth not close to microphone) are perfect..
So, is it voice codec of Sip/Voip software used in ours OS to blame..?
What do you think..?

as mentioned in an other very useful post, in order to be able to successfully use (the wonderful) rtcomm with some voip providers, the iLIBC codec must be disabled because it creates a lot of problems. even if what these issues are unrelated, it looks like the codec or the program need some fixing.
