I have used Palm PDAs for several years and very happy with them. Recently my TX was stolen hence I need to replace. However Palm have not improved on the TX, and I am reluctant to buy a the same hand held as two years ago. Hence have been looking at the N810. PIM software (as well as internet access) is important to me, and I was using Agendus (fantastic!) on the Palm. I need to have PIM functionality when WIFI is not available. Supposedly via Garnet Palm apps will run on the N810. Has anybody seriously tried this, and with what degree of success? Has anybody used Agendus? Apparently the screen for the Palm apps is much smaller - how much (any screen shots?), how problematic? How good is the handwriting recognition software on the N810? And finally does the N810 only work in landscape mode?

Lots of questions I know - but any advice gratefully received.

Check out the Palm set of threads under the Software forums. I too was a long time Palm user. I had to reshape my mind a bit. The N810 is an excellent on-the-go Linux internet ready computer. It's not quite ready for prime time as a syncable PDA that allows you to take and update data away from your PC. The N810 is a better media player too.

Software I took for granted with my LifeDrive (PIM (Agendus too), Doc readers, office apps, database, HotSync, onboard programming development, GPS, etc...) are not as mature yet on the IT... nor were they weren't 5 or 6 Palm's ago; I didn't take tons of docs, databases, spreadsheets, and navigate on my IIIx.

I made a decision to dive into the IT. I don't sync all of my PIM data each day and the world hasn't yet crashed. ;-)

Good luck deciding,
Frank
