With rest of your post I see what you mean and agree. Yeah its very unlikely that Intel knew about this.
But those products violates Linux Foundation trademark guidelines as you said, so why Linux Foundation don't act? Hmm

Wow...actually ...just a sec. ...I have to season a wee bit of crow...I'm not tucking into the bird just yet until I find out more....but I did find this...(which I will wait to see it corroborated by other media )...

It "appears" that this is a quiet intel coup....how they will explain the misuse of the Meego name to the foundation would be interesting to know.
How did they strong-arm Android, Linux, and M$ into allowing this I wonder?
    Pretty muddy waters here.

And also I _maybe_ found their homepage http://meegopad.cn/
It shows that they actually have 3 products. Two pads f10 and f8(by screen size) and then that dongle. This is interestingg..

    Hum...
actually yeah I remem seeing the meegopad comp. you mention.
ALLLLL these meegopad products are (seemingly anonymously ) coming out of shenzen

    Likewise I found this...
    http://www.alibaba.com/product-detai...481099741.html
which isn't even putting "-pad" at the end of "Meego" ...in it's name.
Just blatantly using the Meego name...

Hm...ya ...their site doesn't clearly say really who they are or where they are...
likewise ....love this at the bottom of their page...

"...STORE LOGO and pictures have already applied for protection, may not be used without authorization....." haha...wow that is ballsy!

Maybe as they do not care about TM MeeGo anymore?
Or they just do not know yet?
Or they already know and got some money?
Or they know and filed some law suits. But it is Chinese company.

    Someome should ask them ...

" ...This new device it’s called MeeGoPad F10, and even if the name makes us think about the Meego operating system, an OS based on Linux that was implemented on the Nokia N9, this has nothing to do with the tablet itself. This name can be used to make the company a little more popular along other chinese producers available on the market....."

    sounds like a great Idea!
    You go ask...
If you can...you'll have to tell us what it's like to be bombarded from every direction by the might of the entirety of the chinese-state military hacker-unit division.
    hehehee

Humhumhum...actually peter...I think you are prob right with that last point...they prob know (foundation that is) ...hell ...the ads and all are EVERYWHERE and I imagine are speaking with the state ministry in charge of policing trademark, copyright, and fraud ...as we speak.
And frankly...lately the gov't stance has been very strict (publicly) on such behaviour...so there may be an official response some time in the future.
