I'd say your loss, there's a lot going on, whether it is certain group of people trying to hijack a movement (like what was happening in atheism community, the moment i care about atheists...?), how one sided reportîng comes back and bites you (gawker is currently on receiving end) or collusion (gee, do verge reporting on iphone really that differs from paid for reviews of aaa titles?). This is really fascinating. The chan is pretty much a github of ideas, good ones get traction and evolve into ops, participation is free and anonymous (well, there are also ecelebs called tripfags and a lot of drama, bring your popcorn). I watched three videos on GamerGate and read two articles on it. On that same day, I completely quit on GamerGate.
My take on it: if women would like better representation of females in video games, then they should probably seek jobs in the video game industry and get involved in the creative process of video games (without causing a debacle like Mighty No.9). Seriously, the video game industry is a sausage fest. How could you NOT expect developers to have their stories biased towards their own gender?
There's a decent chunk of developers that make an effort to have their stories balanced and not paint a specific picture of women or oversexualize them, and I truly applaud them for that. It takes a damn high level of talent to do that AND not make the story corny, not interesting, or otherwise boring.
Misogyny is never a good thing, but painting a population as broad and diverse as gamers as "white, misogynistic males" is pretty hateful. And stupid. More stupid than hateful though.
Oh, and the gaming "journalism" thing. Yeah, Gamespot, IGN, Koutaku, and Eurogamer are very good examples of why actual journalism in gaming is pretty much non-existant. Heh. Gaming jounalism. Nice oxy*****.
