I just got my N800 and I love it so far. I have run into a small problem though. I have no way to connect it directly to the internet, but you can't install (non-trivial) applications without web access! I've been searching for two days for an alternative but up until now the most I've been able to do is go into redpill mode and manually install mplayer (libs then player). This afternoon I found this:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Re...itoriesTrivial

I think this will work, but I haven't had a chance to try it. I did a little poking around in /usr/bin, sbin, etc earlier but I didn't noticed dpkg. When I was running Linux I was a Slackware user, so all you Debian type people - does this sound plausible?

I already downloaded the entire Maemo extras repository (sorry ) and it only weighs about 708 Meg. Should easily fit on a card.

TIA for any advice!

The maemo extras repository is a Debian repository, so knock yourself out.
