Actually, $250k is not that much. With taxes and running costs, that will pay 5 developers for 6 months.

I am still not convinced though that split screen is such a big deal. All it does it removing the artificial limitation added to the UI to allow only one application on the screen.

Well Jolla have to pay others too. I guess the manufacturer won't manufacture the tablet for free and so on.

Ubuntu edge gave us lots info...one very interesting note was a country-by-country list. Would love to see some stats for jolla tablet as well. Trying to see if anyone mad a diagram or something over the campaign...but so far nothing. Would someone mind to ask jolla about that on toghter.habour or indiegogo? Would be interesting to see if Finland made it top five.

No. Several possible reasons.

1)You've underestimated the powerful lure of the split screen.
2)Folks wating to the last minute realizing they need to jump on this train (or boat if you prefer) or be left behind.
3)Microsoft just gave their employees a $250 Christmas bonus they can spend anyway they like...
