OpenMobile? I didn't know they were still around...

This makes me appreciate even more that Jolla (and BlackBerry) chose Myriad' AlienDalvik instead of OpenMobile's ACL. As far as I know, besides dozens of promises (for N9 and others - I'm sure you can find articles all over), the only ACL they ever released was the one for HP Touchpad (after many delays and 1 year of working with another company that tried to finish it for them). I bought a copy from them and it was a big mistake - even if it was for free, wasting the time with installation wouldn't be worth it.
The worst technology of its kind. Period. Instead of fixing the product, they spent time trying to close the thing down (serial number registration etc.) which resulted in having the ACL broken and unable to launch any apps almost every month, thr only solution being new registration or re-installation. This was annoying once or twice, but then you realized that it is better broken, so you don't have have to be mad about malfunctioning apps and a keyboard that types one letter per second.
The only bright side was being able to run multiple apps at once, but restarts, freezes and various unexpected behavior made it completely unusable. Even thinking about using it again gives me chills, which explains this long rant.

    tl;dr: OpenMobile? Never again.

One interesting comment from the last video linked in the website above:

So they seem to be improving. But I didn't hear anything from them since they were in discussion to run on SailfishOS some years ago anyway.

The dual SIM device is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 768 MB RAM and 4GB internal memory expandable up to 64GB. It features four-inch display, 3.1 MP rear and a VGA front camera and 1,500 mAh battery.
and Samsung has tied-up with Reliance Communications and Aircel to offer up to 500MB of 3G data free every month over 6 months.

Still the camera and RAM is not up to mark. Crippled phone.
Let's see how Samsung promotes this phone when at almost same price more advance phones are available.

Can anyone explain to me what is exciting about Tizen? I can't find one thing. As far as I know, it is not really that open and ditched Qt in favour of EFL. But I know that not everyone cares about that type of stuff, so more importantly, what's nice about it UX-wise? I haven't noticed anything that would make me say "oh, this is a nice thing, I'd like to try it". And no, I am not counting "we'll give you lots of free music if you start using it" as a feature of the system

I am under impression that the sole purpose of the system is to lure users from Android to Samsung's own ecosystem, without them noticing and therefore it is trying to look like as much as Android as possible. But Android isn't really that nice UX-wise in the first place.

So is there really any target audience besides the one that won't notice it's not Android?

EDIT: This is a serious question, not a rant about Tizen. I have been watching some videos of the system and couldn't find one interesting thing - I've been thinking of asking this question for a while now.
