Longer answer: but (as almost always) there is a possibility.
Open a terminal and navigate to
/home/user/.modest/cache/mail/
then cd to the directory imap or pop (depending on your account)
and then cd to your account (you will recognize it)
and finally to folders/inbox.
Now it can get tricky. You will find (a lot of) files with a ".~" at the end. These are your emails and contain full header info ...

There is a simple solution. Inspect the same email in Firebird on a big PC.
Sure Modest does not have all the features imaginable but that's what makes it, well, modest. I do not think it was ever intended to replace a big email client and yet it is much better than any mobile email client I've had a chance to compare it to.
