    Cingular Audiovox 5600

I just got my 770 and I'm trying to hook it up via bluetooth to my Cingular Audiovox 5600 (Windows Smartphone) phone.

The 770 finds my phone and gives me a passcode to put in the phone.
I put the code in the phone and then the 770 says the phone does not support file transfer. It can only be used for dial-up networking. (fine with me)

But the phone gives me an error that it did not connect with the Nokia 770.

The 770 says, "Selecting phone succeeded....." But it doesn't.

Any ideas? Anyone using this phone with the 770?

This is the same as the PPC6700. All you need to do on the smartphone side is enter your PIN twice, and it *should* accept it on the second time. Then, you need to run through paring again, and you'll be in good shape.

Oh, you also need to manually create the connection, then set it as default.

I have the cingular smt 5600 and i had the same problem. This seems to be a problem with windows smart phones expecting different chat scripts not supported by Nokia.

Essentially you need a hacked icd (internet connectivity daemon) and also need to start the SDP at startup. Of course you need root access for this.

I have tried pairing the 5600 with the fix and it worked fine the 2-3 times i used it.
    More info here.

droe42: I've tried 20 times to get the 5600 paired, without luck.

DaScud: I think I'm going to wait for the next firmware upgrade before I attempt any hacks.

I might pickup a different phone anyway.

    Thanks guy's.

Unfortunately, the 770 is basically a bi_ch to hook up to more phones then to not. There is a compatibility list on here that has either a NO or isses with most phones. As an example, in my case here is my Situation stats:

TMOBILE MDA -requires root acces and fix
Cingular 2125 -same as above (applies to all MS Mobile for Windows 5 versions, Smartphone or PPC)
TREO 650 GSM- my model is a no at this time. Some models do work, depends on Hardware/ FW versions
Moto V551- had to spend a few minutes
Moto GSM V3 RAZR- fastest and easiest (and the one without EDGE, cannot Win!)
Moto V330- same as V551 to the "T"

As to the suggestion with the Smartphones,to repeat entering the PW, if you do not get by 3rd /4th try it isn't going to happen. The error that clues me in is when it says on the 770 that the Discovered device does not support File Transfer but does support Dial Up Networking then the 770 says the pairing is complete. Then, on the Smartphone, will say it was unable to PAIR. Thats basically all she wrote and you will need the workaround, which all say works fine. Because I have strong WiFi at home, and a plethora of phones that do work, I have been to lazy to setup the ROOT access and try it. If all you have is one phone, then your situation may dictate. As you stated, I am awaiting the new OS. If they do not GREATLY improve the BlueTooth on this device, it will be a HUGE mistake for them. To not have an easy BT connection on a device of this design, is lunacy, regardless of the " But its not a phone " group. If your gonna have the feature, make it work and work right. If I wanted crippled Bluetooth, Id drop into a VERIZON store LOL!!!

Dang, the Cigular 2125 was the phone I wanted next! I guess I'll try the root access hack. I'm pretty comfortable in the command line and I'd like to be able to see what I can do with this little device. Of course the feature set of the 2125 overlaps that of the 770 somewhat.
